- Say: “This passage is about...”
- Find the main event, problem or idea.
- If you cannot summarise, read again.
Narrator Radar
- First person: I, me, my, we, our.
- Third person: he, she, they, names.
- Ask: who is telling the story?
Sequence Tracker
- At the start...

Proof Hunter
- Point to exact words in the text.
- Do not choose what only sounds nice.
- Proof beats guessing every time.
Inference Ninja
- Inference means working it out from clues.
- Use: clue + proof = answer.
- Never invent a feeling or personality.
Vocabulary Warrior
- Read the sentence before and after.
- Try each option in the sentence.
- Choose the closest meaning.
Metaphor Master
- One thing is described as another thing.
- Example: “The classroom was a zoo.”
- Ask: what picture or feeling does it create?
Personification Power
- A thing is given human actions or feelings.
- Example: “The wind whispered.”
- Ask: why did the writer make it seem alive?
Simile Scanner
- Compares using like or as.
- Example: “as quiet as a mouse.”
- Ask: what does the comparison show?
Mood Detector
- Funny, tense, excited, sad, calm?
- Find words that create the feeling.
- Do not guess. Prove the mood.
Contrast Crusher
- Contrast means opposite or sharp change.
- Example: noise to silence.
- Look for but, however, although.
Exact Answer Boss
- When = time.
- Where = place.
